The Federation of the Universities of the Islamic World (FUIW) is affiliated with the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO). It was established upon the recommendation of the Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH), which is affiliated with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
The FUIW’s founding conference was held on November 30-December 1, 1987, in Rabat, Kingdom of Morocco. The Federation is headquartered within the General Directorate of ICESCO.
The FUIW has an independent legal personality, which consists in its member universities, including public and private universities.
