ICESCO Organizes Practical Workshop to Train Arabic Language Teachers in Thailand

    21 July 2026

The Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), in cooperation with the Academy of Islamic and Arabic Studies at Princess of Naradhiwas University in Thailand, launched, on Monday, 20 July 2026, the practical workshop titled “Training Arabic Language Teachers in the Kingdom of Thailand: Modern Trends in Teaching Arabic to Non-Arabic Speakers.” The workshop benefited around 100 Arabic language teachers, teaching staff, postgraduate students and researchers.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Youssef Ismaili, Head of the Language Training Division at ICESCO’s Center of Arabic for Non-Arabic Speakers, stressed that teaching Arabic to Non-Arabic speakers is a civilizational project that contributes to strengthening intercultural dialogue and building bridges of communication among peoples. He noted that advancing this field begins with investing in teachers and shifting the focus from knowledge transmission to the development of linguistic and communication competencies, enabling learners to use the language effectively in real-life situations.

The five-day workshop focuses on developing strategies for teaching Arabic language skills, designing communication activities, and transforming traditional lessons into interactive, learner-centered educational experiences, while employing the latest pedagogical approaches to teaching Arabic to Non-Arabic speakers.

The workshop is part of ICESCO’s ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of Arabic language education, building the capacities of Arabic teachers, and strengthening scientific cooperation with academic institutions in Southeast Asian countries through a comprehensive practical program that combines academic lectures, interactive workshops, and collaborative work.
