ICESCO Director-General Receives Ambassador of Australia to Rabat

Dr. Salim M. AlMalik, Director-General of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), received Mr. Damien Donavan, Ambassador of Australia to the Kingdom of Morocco, and together they explored prospects for cooperation between ICESCO and Australia in the fields of education, science, and culture.
At the beginning of the meeting, held on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at ICESCO headquarters in Rabat, Dr. AlMalik highlighted ICESCO’s vision and strategic orientations, which embrace openness to and cooperation with all parties, in service of its Member States and Muslim communities across the globe. The Director-General also underlined that non-Member States can join ICESCO as Observer States to promote interaction between these countries and the Islamic world.
Likewise, the ICESCO Director-General expressed his keenness to develop fruitful relations with Australia, especially in the field of civilizational dialogue, given the country’s shining example of multicultural coexistence.
For his part, Amb. Donavan commended ICESCO’s efforts to serve its Member States, expressing his keenness to implement a number of joint programs, particularly in the field of smart and sustainable agriculture.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Anar Karimov, Head of the Partnerships and International Cooperation Sector; Dr. Raheel Qamar, Head of the Sciences and Environment Sector; and Amb. Khaled Fathalrahman, Head of the Center for Civilizational Dialogue.
Following the meeting, Dr. AlMalik accompanied Mr. Donavan on a tour of the various sections of the International Fair and Museum of the Prophet’s Biography and Islamic Civilization, currently housed at ICESCO headquarters, in partnership with the Muslim World League and the Mohammadia League of Scholars in the Kingdom of Morocco.
