    ICESCO participates in Ministerial Conference on Social Development in OIC Member States

    The Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) participated in the 2nd Ministerial Conference on Social Development in the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), held in Cairo on June 5-6, 2023, under the auspices of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt. The event is held by the Egyptian Ministry of Solidarity and OIC, under the theme: “Social Justice and Social Security.”
    During the opening session, Turkey handed the conference’s presidency over to Egypt. The second session highlights the efforts of OIC Member States, organs and institutions to combat violence against children, eradicate child labor, empower women and bolster social welfare initiatives for the elderly.


    Ms. Ramata Almamy Mbaye, Head of ICESCO’s Social and Human Sciences Sector, and Ms. Amira El Fadil, Advisor to ICESCO Director-General for External Relations represented the Organization at the conference.

    During the senior officials’ preparatory meeting for the conference, ICESCO’s comprehensive approach to social affairs was reviewed, with a particular emphasis on its initiatives focused on children, youth and women in the fields of education, empowerment and protection for brighter knowledge societies.

    The two ICESCO representatives called upon Member States and partners to join the Organization’s initiatives aimed at advancing health, social welfare and equality, and promoting policies and programs aimed at empowering women and girls to strengthen our societies.
