ISESCO Director General commends outcomes of three Makkah Al-Mukarramah summits and affirms ISESCO’s willingness to contribute to combatting intellectual extremism and rejection of hatred.

The Director General, of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), Dr. Salim bin Mohammed AlMalik, commended the outcomes of the Gulf and Arab emergency summits and of the fourteenth OIC Islamic Summit held upon the kind invitation of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, from 30 May to 01 June 2019 in Makkah Al-Mukarramah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. ISESCO Director General said the organization of the three summits is in line with ISESCO Charter which seeks, inter alia, to promote, encourage and deepen cooperation among Member States in light of the Islamic common values and ideals, welcoming the resolutions of the Gulf and Arab emergency summits and stressing the importance of solidarity between all he Gulf and Arab countries to preserve peace and stability in order to provide favorable conditions for the success of sustainable development projects and counter all challenges and risks, notably terrorism, sectarianism and intellectual extremism.

ISESCO Director General also praised the initiative of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to convene the fourteenth OIC Islamic Summit in Makkah Al-Mukarraah under the theme: “Makkah Summit: Hand in Hand toward the Future”, welcoming the contents of “Makkah Declaration” and the final declaration of the Islamic summit. Dr. AlMalik said that the two documents offer a clear and practical action framework to address the current issues of the Islamic world, most importantly the Palestinian cause; the suffering of the Islamic minorities from oppression, hatred and racial segregation; and ways to eliminate Islamophobia and counter terrorism and violent extremism.

Dr. AlMalik expressed ISESCO’s genuine willingness to contribute to the implementation of the recommendations of Makkah Decaration and activation of its orientations through its action programmes in the fields of education, culture and communication, and also through its relevant reference documents which contain practical initiatives on education on the values of peace, tolerance, coexistence and rejection of hatred; defense of the civil and cultural rights of Muslims outside the Islamic world; the human rights and legal addressing of Islamophobia and the prejudiced stereotypes on Islam and Muslims.
