Mohammed Bin Rashid Prize for Arabic Language awarded to ISESCO

The Mohammed Bin Rashid Prize for Arabic Language, in its category “Best Initiative for Teaching Arabic Language to Non-Arabic Speakers”, was awarded to the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), in recognition for its unremitting efforts and the numerous programmes it has implemented, since its inception in 1982, to protect Arabic language, ensure its teaching to non-Arabic speakers, train specialized teachers, build Arabic teaching centers, expand its use among Muslims outside the Islamic world, publish textbooks and handbooks for teachers and students, and many other outstanding efforts deployed by the Organization at the service of Arabic language.

The Prize was handed out at the opening of the Eighth Conference of Arabic Language, held by the Arabic Language International Council, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President of the State of the United Arab Emirates, Prime Minister, Ruler of the Emirate of Dubai, in the presence of a host of intellectual and academic personalities and researchers specialized in Arabic language issues.

The Prize was received on behalf of Dr Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri, ISESCO Director General, by Dr Ahmed Said Bah, Director of External Relations and Cooperation at ISESCO, who, on behalf of ISESCO Director General, delivered an address wherein he conveyed Dr Altwaijri’s thanks and gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Prize’s founder. In the same address, Dr Altwaijri described His Highness as the leading defender of Arabic language in the present time and thanked him for awarding the Prize to the Organization. He also extended his thanks to the Arabic Language International Council for nominating ISESCO for the Prize, while dubbing the center as “the loyal partner” and reaffirming “the continuous cooperation and partnership with it, to serve the language of the Holy Quran and the tongue of Arab-Islamic civilization”.

It is worth noting that ISESCO had participated in the Fifth edition of the Prize through its initiative “ISESCO World Programme for Teaching Arabic Language and Development of its Skills among Non-Arabic-speaking Students”
