    Message from ICESCO Director General

Guided by our vision for the roles of the Arabic language, the requirements for its empowerment, and the challenges of teaching it in the Islamic world, particularly in ICESCO Member States where other languages are spoken, the Organization decided, at its 40th Executive Council session in Abu Dhabi, January 2020, to establish the ICESCO Center of Arabic for Non-Arabic Speakers. The Center aims to occupy a leading position in building national capacities in the field of the Arabic language in general, and for non-Arabic speakers specifically.

Empowering the Arabic language in its Islamic context, as well as internationally, is a shared responsibility that we all must fulfill. As such, we shall meet our historical obligations towards Arabic, each from their position and according to their capabilities and qualifications. Specialized institutions concerned with Arabic language issues and its dissemination outside their home countries should exert utmost efforts in a quest to empower it on the international linguistic map, encourage its employment on a large scale, and envision its future in this ever-changing world.
