At UNESCO Conference on Uzbekistan’s Spiritual and Scientific Heritage, Dr. AlMalik Highlights Role of Heritage and Knowledge in Building Bridges Between Civilizations

Dr. Salim M. AlMalik, Director-General of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), participated on Wednesday, 7 October 2026, in the international conference titled “Islamic Civilization: The Great Spiritual and Scientific Heritage of Uzbekistan, New Prospects for Enlightenment and Dialogue Among Civilizations,” held at UNESCO headquarters in Paris, France.
In his address, Dr. AlMalik affirmed that Islamic civilization is a civilization of peace, fraternity, culture and science. He described it as a deeply rooted and enduring civilization distinguished by its consistent openness to all, highlighting the Islamic world’s lasting contribution to the advancement of knowledge, science, education, culture and human thought.
The ICESCO Director-General underscored the importance of heritage as a bridge connecting cultures, generations and civilizations. He also emphasized the pivotal role of education, science, culture and intercultural dialogue in promoting mutual understanding and strengthening international cooperation.
