11 November 2025
The International University of Africa in Sudan (IUA) has allocated 100 full scholarships for students from Islamic countries to enroll in its various academic programs, in coordination with the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO).

This initiative was announced during a visit by a university delegation to ICESCO’s headquarters, in Rabat, on Monday, 10 November 2025. The delegation was led by Prof. Dr. Hatim Osman Mohamed Kheir, Rector of the International University of Africa, and included Dr. Mawadda Omar Haj Al-Toam, Ambassador of the Republic of Sudan to the Kingdom of Morocco, and Dr. Saber Abdullah Mohamed Nasr, Head of the Training Division and Program Coordinator at the University. The two sides discussed prospects for cooperation to support university-level students and promote the Arabic language and its presence across Africa.

During the meeting, Dr. Salim M. AlMalik, ICESCO Director General, stated that the scholarship initiative reflects a growing recognition of the importance of youth capacity-building and contributes to expanding access to higher education and enhancing student mobility across the African region.

He also emphasized that ICESCO places the promotion and dissemination of the Arabic language at the forefront of its priorities, through innovative programs that embrace digital transformation and leverage artificial intelligence applications. He outlined the Organization’s strategic directions in curriculum modernization, development of assessment tools, and the launch of open, multimedia educational resources.

For his part, Prof. Dr. Hatim Osman Mohamed Kheir praised ICESCO’s forward-looking vision and innovative initiatives, stressing the importance of renewing cooperation to launch projects that meet the demands of the digital age, support research, authorship, and translation, and highlight the civilizational role of the Arabic language globally.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties agreed to establish practical arrangements for cooperation, beginning with the preparation of an initial package of activities that includes capacity-building courses in Sudan and neighboring African countries, the joint production of digital educational materials, and the organization of scientific forums.
