6 May 2025
Dr. Salim M. AlMalik, Director-General of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), visited the headquarters of Qatar Charity in the capital, Doha, on Monday, 5 May 2025, where he met with Mr. Mohamed Al-Ghamdi, Chief Governance & External Affairs Officer at the Qatari organization. The meeting focused on ways to enhance cooperation between the two parties in areas of common interest.
Also in attendance was Mr. Ali Abdul Razzaq Marafie, Secretary-General of the Qatar National Commission for Education, Culture, and Science. The discussions explored a number of proposed joint projects aimed at promoting the Arabic language in non-Arabic-speaking countries, preserving and valuing heritage—particularly related to historical mosques—and rehabilitating schools and educational institutions as part of ICESCO’s program to improve water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) services in 1,000 rural schools across the Islamic world.
During the meeting, Dr. AlMalik reiterated his thanks to Qatar Charity for its continued support of ICESCO’s Regional Educational Center in the Republic of Chad, expressing his satisfaction with the recent progress in cooperation between the two sides in this area. ICESCO’s Director-General extended an invitation for a delegation from Qatar Charity to visit ICESCO’s headquarters in Rabat, to better understand its working mechanisms and the recent updates taking place across all levels.
For his part, Mr. Al-Ghamdi praised ICESCO’s efforts in advancing education, science, and culture in its Member States, as well as its pivotal role in strengthening the presence of the Arabic language at the international level. He also expressed Qatar Charity’s aspiration to further strengthen its cooperation with ICESCO.
