ICESCO participates in the 33rd session of the ICCROM General Assembly in Rome

The Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) took part in the 33rd session of the General Assembly of the International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM), which examined the issue of cultural heritage and migration as well as the main current and future relevant challenges.
ICESCO was represented at this two-day event, which concluded on Friday November 3, 2023 in Rome, by Mr. Anar Karimov, Head of the Partnerships and International Cooperation Sector, who reviewed the Organization’s major efforts in establishing partnerships with prestigious international institutions, in order to protect cultural heritage in the countries of the Islamic world.
In parallel with the ICCROM General Assembly, Mr. Karimov held a meeting with Mr. Lazare Eloundou Assomo, Director of World Heritage at UNESCO, during which they stressed the importance of consolidating cooperation between ICESCO and UNESCO for the protection of cultural heritage against natural and climate disasters. He also held a meeting with Mr. Webber Ndoro, Director General of ICCROM, where they discussed the possibility of signing a memorandum of understanding between ICESCO and ICCROM in areas of common interest.
