AlMalik and Fofana explore cooperation between ISESCO and the Republic of Guinea
10 January 2020
Dr. Salim M. AlMalik, Director General of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), explored with Mr. Ibrahima Kassory Fofana, Prime Minister of Guinea, ways to develop strong relations and cooperation between ISESCO and the Republic of Guinea in the Organization’s areas of action.
This was part of the meeting of Mr. Fofana, today at his office in Conakry, with Dr. AlMalik, who made an official visit to Guinea.
During this meeting, Dr. AlMalik reviewed ISESCO’s new vision and future action strategies, which call for more communication and coordination with Member States so as to identify their needs in terms of the programmes and activities likely to support and improve the living of their citizens through good education and comprehensive care.
Dr. AlMalik highlighted the Waqf project, which ISESCO will launch in order to ensure the necessary funding to expand the scope of its programmes and projects. The Guinean Prime Minister generously donated a plot of land in Guinea as a contribution to ISESCO’s Waqf.
The meeting also tackled the medical and socio-educational caravan, due to be organized by ISESCO in one of the most needy regions to such services in Guinea. The Caravan will provide, inter alia, medical education, checkups, treatment, equipment for medical centres, rehabilitation of schools, and the requirements of the educational process such as computers.
Besides, Dr. AlMalik highlighted the importance of Guinea’s vital role in the region of West Africa, and its potential cooperation to support ISESCO’s mission within the framework of the new vision of the Organization. On his part, Mr. Fofana promised to work on these issues and pay Guinea’s arrears to ISESCO’s budget.
