The Director General of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), Dr Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri, today afternoon in his office, received Dr Waleed Abdul Mohsin Al Wohaib, Director General of the Islamic Solidarity Fund for Development (ISFD), who was accompanied by Mr El-Waleed Abdulaal Hammour, Director of the Regional Office of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) in Rabat, and many assistants.
During this meeting, the two parties discussed ways to promote cooperation relations in areas of common interest, namely in what concerns supporting sustainable development programmes and the scholarships project for needy students in Member States, as part of implementing ISESCO Action Plan for 2019-2021.
Established pursuant to a resolution of the Third Extraordinary Session of the OIC Summit Conference, held in Makkah Al-Mukarrama in December 2005, the Fund, an IsDB-affiliated organ, aims at fighting poverty and hunger, providing financial support to promote productivity and sustainable income-generating means for the poor, and stressing the importance of human development, particularly the reduction of illiteracy and eradication of diseases and pandemics such as malaria, tuberculosis and AIDS.
