ISESCO strongly condemns Israeli police forces breaking into Al-Aqsa Mosque compound
The Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) strongly condemned Israeli police forces’ breaking into Al-Aqsa Mosque compound on Monday physically assaulting the Mosque’s imam, Sheikh Omar Al-Keswani, and besieging the holy Qubbat Al-Sakhrah, with guards, worshippers, and PalestinianWaqf Division’sstaffstill inside. In this regard, ISESCO casted the attack as a heinous crime, presumptuous provocation of Muslims’ sentiments, disregard for their sanctities and religious values, and contempt for international charters and declarations on the protection of Muslim sanctities in Al-Quds Al-Sharif.
For his part, ISESCO Director General, DrAbdulaziz Othman Altwaijri called on the international community and parties in the Islamic world concerned with safeguarding cultural and natural heritage in Al-Quds Al-Sharif to intervene to prevent the recurrence of such provocations, in activation of the relevant respective resolutions of the UN Security Council and General Assembly.
The Director General also called on Muslim governmental and non-governmental bodies inside and outside the Islamic world to contribute to the process of highlighting, safeguarding and developing the heritage of Al-Quds Al-Sharif, on the occasion of ISESCO’s proclamation of 2019 as the Year of Heritage in the Islamic World and naming Al-Quds Al-Sharif as 2019 Capital of Islamic Culture for the Arab region and the Permanent Capital of Islamic Culture.
