Post objective

Preparing studies, consultations, and initiatives in order to monitor and study social and human issues related to the fields of peace and development. The aim is to reach appropriate solutions for these issues to achieve development and social peace, and to build a better world for Member States.

Functions

• Implementing ICESCO’s vision, which focuses on peace, security, and development, by conducting studies and developinq action plans in accordance with Islamic values and international standards;
• Contributing to making appropriate national policies in order to address social issues relating to development and coexistence and determine assessment indicators and performance measurement indicators;
• Developing new and innovative mechanisms in the fields of human development and applied human sciences jointly with experts in these fields;
• Suggesting programs that raise social and human awareness among individuals within societies;
• Conducting research and field studies on major social issues with direct impact on the fields of peace and social development in the Islamic World;
• Providing general plans, programs, and activities related to social development in the Islamic World;
• Taking part in the committees and meetings relating to the management of the ethical, legal, and societal effects as well as the human consequences of scientific and technological innovations in order to ensure the achievement of just social and human development.
• Any other tasks assigned in the field of the job’s competence.

Qualifications and requirements

Academic qualifications:

The candidate should have :

• A postgraduate degree (Master or PhD) in a specialty related to peace, political sciences, Islamic studies, sociology, international relations, or any other field within social sciences.

Professional experience:

• At least 8 years of experience.
• At least 3 years of professional experience in an international organization.
• Have proven expertise in coordinating projects and conducting research on peace, security, and development;
• Be fully aware of the ethics related to peace and security as well as the challenges to peace and security inside and outside the Islamic world;
• Be knowledgeable and experienced in policy analysis with a focus on gender issues;
• Be knowledgeable in outreach and resource mobilization;
• Be knowledgeable in Islamic civilization, especially in peace and security related fields;

Languages:

• Proficiency in at least two of ICESCO’s working languages (Arabic, French, and English).

Skills and competencies:

The candidate should have :

• Ability to take initiatives, manage priorities effectively, and work under pressure.
• Proven ability to build partnerships, to coordinate with partners, and to create networks.
• Demonstrated ability to produce analytical reports.
• Team working and maintain good working relationships.

Salary, allowances and benefits

• In case of recruitment, the candidate will benefit from the allowances and advantages provided in ICESCO Staff Regulations.
