ICESCO Director-General Participates in 56th Morocco Book Award Ceremony

Dr. Salim M. AlMalik, Director-General of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), participated in the award ceremony of the 56th edition of the Morocco Book Award, held on Thursday, 23 July 2026, at the National Library in Rabat, Morocco.

During the ceremony, Dr. AlMalik, alongside Mr. Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication of the Kingdom of Morocco, presented awards to several winners. The event was attended by a distinguished gathering of prominent thinkers, leading writers, and cultural figures.

On this occasion, Dr. AlMalik commended Morocco’s national efforts to support and promote its cultural landscape, noting that these efforts clearly reflect the richness and diversity of the country’s intellectual and artistic scene. He also reaffirmed ICESCO’s readiness to contribute to all initiatives aimed at strengthening Morocco’s national cultural landscape.

The Moroccan Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication previously announced the winners of the award, which was established in 1968 and comprises six categories: Narrative Literature and Storytelling; Poetry; Literary, Linguistic and Artistic Studies; Humanities; Social Sciences; and Translation.
The award, whose latest edition featured 162 accepted works, aims to support writers and creators and to advance cultural development by recognizing outstanding works in the fields of literature, the humanities, and the social sciences.
