AlMalik and Al-Shaibani explore areas of cooperation between ICESCO and Sultanate of Oman

Dr. Salim bin Mohammed AlMalik, Director General of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), met with Dr Madiha bint Ahmed al Shaibani, Minister of Education of the Sultanate of Oman, on the sidelines of the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States (ABEGS), held on Wednesday, 14 January 2026, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
During the meeting, the Omani Minister of Education praised the initiatives, programs, and projects implemented by ICESCO, commending the qualitative leap witnessed by the Organization’s action in recent years and the concrete positive impact it has achieved in the fields of education and culture.
For his part, Dr. AlMalik affirmed that the Sultanate of Oman is one of the countries with which ICESCO is proud to cooperate, noting that the joint programs and projects implemented between the two sides have proven, through their outputs, their importance and usefulness, and have contributed to supporting the educational system.
During the meeting, the two sides explored future prospects for cooperation, and discussed a number of joint initiatives and projects, in addition to confirming ICESCO’s participation in the International Conference on the Teaching Profession, which the Ministry of Education in the Sultanate of Oman intends to organize in Muscat at the beginning of February. The Minister stressed the importance of ICESCO’s attendance and participation in this conference, given its added value and international expertise in educational issues.
Meanwhile, Dr. AlMalik expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said for his generous support for the development of the Sultan Qaboos Library at ICESCO headquarters, noting that the library will be officially opened within the next two months, thereby enhancing the Organization’s intellectual and cultural role.
At the end of the meeting, both sides affirmed their shared keenness to strengthen cooperation and make every effort to expand their partnership in the fields of education and culture.
