Dr. Salim M. AlMalik, Director-General (DG) of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) and a Member of the Board of Trustees of the International Islamic University (IIU) in Islamabad, Pakistan, attended the 16th meeting of the University’s Board of Trustees. The meeting was held today, Monday, December 23, 2024, at Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University (IMSIU) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The agenda of the meeting, chaired by Dr. Ahmed bin Salem Al-Amri, President of IMSIU and Vice-Rector of IIU in Pakistan, included discussions on the University patron’s report on its activities, the report of the 15th Board of Trustees meeting, and the report on implementation of resolutions adopted at the 14th Board of Trustees meeting held on June 30, 2020, regarding selected agenda items. Additionally, the meeting reviewed the appointment system for the University rector, approved the University’s strategic plan (2022–2026), and incorporated recommendations made by the Board members during the discussions.

Furthermore, several members of the Board presented recommendations on the proposed selection mechanism and the academic and professional qualifications required for the University’s rector.
The IIU in Islamabad was established in 1980, marking the beginning of the 15th Hijri century (1400 AH), with the support of governments from various Islamic countries. It is one of the largest universities in Pakistan, offering a wide range of specialized colleges in various fields of study.
