Dr. Salim M. AlMalik, Director-General of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), welcomed Mr. Hissein Brahim Taha, Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), to ICESCO’s pavilion at COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan. The Meeting focused on recent developments in the partnership between the two organizations and on mechanisms for upgrading programs and projects in areas of shared interest to serve the Islamic world.

During the Meeting, held on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, Dr. AlMalik emphasized ICESCO’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with the OIC, its parent organization, and to carrying out projects and activities that benefit the Member States of both organizations. He highlighted key programs that ICESCO is implementing for the benefit of its Member States and the achievements secured under its new vision and strategic framework.

The Discussion also covered major activities that ICESCO is set to organize during COP29, including seminars and panel discussions addressing current environmental issues and approaches to combating climate change.

For his part, the Secretary-General of the OIC praised ICESCO’s efforts to advance education, science, and culture within the Islamic world. Moreover, he underscored the importance of launching joint initiatives to tackle climate change and support environmental protection projects.
