    ICESCO Reiterates its Commitment to Strengthening Partnership between Russia and Islamic World

    Dr. Salim M. AlMalik, Director-General (DG) of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), emphasized the longstanding historical relations between the Russian Federation and the Islamic world, pointing out ICESCO’s commitment to enhancing this partnership through initiatives and programs that foster further cooperation Russia and the countries of the Islamic world, particularly in education, science, and culture.

    This came in his speech on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at the 15th International Economic Forum “Russia – the Islamic World,” organized by the Group of Strategic Vision “Russia – the Islamic World” and hosted by the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia, in Kazan. The Forum, being held from 14 to 19 May under the theme: “Trust and Cooperation,” drew high-level officials and delegations from Islamic world countries, along with representatives of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. Its purpose is to strengthen cooperation and facilitate discussions on economic, trade, and cultural matters between Russia and the Islamic world.

    Dr. AlMalik praised the attendance of H.E. President Rustam Minnikhanov, Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan, acknowledging his efforts and those of the Group of Strategic Vision, and all those involved in organizing the event. Moreover, he described the Forum as a significant initiative and a crucial step towards enhancing cooperation and reshaping global dynamics.

    Furthermore, he reiterated the commitment to collaborate with the Strategic Vision Group and the Russian Federation, and build partnerships founded on trust, transparency, and commitment, focusing on capacity-building and youth development, as well as the promotion of intercultural dialogue to establish the groundwork for a more inclusive and sustainable future. He also called for the organization of a youth summit to address various issues and challenges faced by youth.

    ICESCO is actively engaged in the Forum’s sessions and discussions through a high-level delegation led by Dr. AlMalik. Dr. Muhammad Sharif, Advisor at the Science and Environment Sector of the Organization, participated in the 10th Kazan OIC Youth Entrepreneurship Forum organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs in Tatarstan and the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum (ICYF), and other entities. The Forum witnessed the participation of numerous young entrepreneurs from Islamic world countries, and owners of the best projects in the fields of creative industries.
