    ICESCO Holds two Symposia on Science Diplomacy and Cybersecurity in Dubai

    The Science and Technology Sector of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) held two symposia on cybersecurity in the age of artificial intelligence and science diplomacy and its outcomes respectively, within the framework of the International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things, organized by the University of Dubai and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on December 10-12, 2023, with a view to discussing ways and mechanisms to benefit from artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things.

    The participants in the first symposium discussed the role of cybersecurity in the age of artificial intelligence and ways to protect digital infrastructure, in addition to the challenges, strategies, and best practices for enhancing cybersecurity amid the growing global reliance on digital applications.

    The second symposium touched upon the science diplomacy and its outcomes, as well as the role of science in promoting international cooperation, achieving peace, and finding collective solutions to contemporary global issues.

    Dr. Adel Smeda, expert at ICESCO Science and Technology Sector, who moderated the two events, via videoconference, highlighted the importance of international cooperation in the field of science to contribute to achieving the security of Muslim societies, developing health care, technology and environmental protection, underscoring the role of the Organization in encouraging science diplomacy among its Member States through a number of activities and initiatives in the fields of science, technology and scientific research.
