Dr. Salim M. AlMalik, Director-General of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), received Mr. Hani bin Moqbel Al-Moqbel, Chairman of the Executive Board of the Arab League Educational, Cultural, and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), at ICESCO Headquarters in Rabat on Friday 24 November 2023.

During the meeting, attended by Dr. Abdelilah Benarfa, ICESCO Deputy Director-General, and a number of sector chiefs and department directors within the Organization. Dr. Al-Malik commended
Mr. Al-Moqbel’s efforts in the success of Future of Education, Science, and Culture International Organizations Forum, hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia last March under the theme ” Together for Impact in the 21st Century ” It marked the first meeting between UNESCO, ICESCO, and ALECSO to envision their future roles.

ICESCO Director-General reviewed his organization’s vision and strategic directions, highlighting its ongoing programs and projects being implemented in its Member States, all in coordination with their respective National Commissions and competent authorities. The main focus of these activities is building youth capacities, fostering creativity and innovation, appreciating and safeguarding heritage, and harnessing the potential granted by cutting-edge technology applications in advancing the fields of education, science, and culture.

In turn, ALECSO Executive Board Chairman expressed his deep-felt gratitude to the Dr. AlMalik for the Organization’s participation in the Future of Education, Science, and Culture International Organizations Forum. He also valued the ideas and visionary insights shared by ICESCO Director-General during his attendance at the conference.

Following the meeting, Dr. AlMalik accompanied Mr. Al-Moqbel on a tour of various ICESCO facilities to take stock of the recent developments which the Headquarters has seen. They also toured the exhibition halls and the International Museum of the Seerah and Islamic Civilization, currently housed at ICESCO Headquarters, in a strategic partnership with the Muslim World League and the Mohammedia League of Scholars.
