    The ICESCO Director-General Receives the Ambassador of Azerbaijan in Rabat

    Dr. Salim M. AlMalik, the Director-General of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), received Ambassador Nazim Samadov, the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Kingdom of Morocco, to discuss the outcomes of the recent visit by Dr. AlMalik to Baku, as well as the strategies to coordinate with various Azerbaijani entities to enhance the outstanding partnership between ICESCO and Azerbaijan.

    Dr. AlMalik initiated the meeting, held today, Tuesday, 10 October 2023, at the ICESCO Headquarters in Rabat, by expressing his sincere gratitude and deep appreciation to His Excellency President Ilham Aliyev, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, for his unwavering support to ICESCO. He also expressed his thanks for the warm reception they received during their meeting in Baku on 2 October, where they were joined by Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva, the First Lady and Vice President of the Republic.
    The Director-General of ICESCO recalled that the meetings held during the visit with senior officials in Azerbaijan, including the Foreign Minister, Minister of Culture, Minister of Education, Minister of Youth and Sports, Minister of Digital Development and Transport, Chairman of the Azerbaijan Space Agency, and the President of ADA University, proved to be particularly fruitful, reaffirming the commitment of both parties to further enhance their partnership.

    The meeting further explored the Embassy’s involvement in collaboration between ICESCO and various Azerbaijani entities, specifically in preparation for the celebration of Shusha as the Capital of Islamic Culture 2024. This event to be held under the patronage of His Excellency President Ilham Aliyev, encompasses a year-long schedule of activities and programs. Furthermore, the meeting tackled coordination with competent entities in Morocco to organize joint activities during the celebration of Marrakech as the Capital of Culture in the Islamic World 2024. The primary objective of the meeting was to establish a vision for cooperation between these two cultural celebrations.

    On his part, Ambassador Samadov affirmed that the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Rabat will spare no effort in strengthening the partnership between Azerbaijan and ICESCO, and expressed his appreciation for the Organization’s efforts in serving its Member States.
