    21 February 2023

The Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) is holding a three-day training session on health and hygiene in schools, in partnership with the Cameroonian National Commission for UNESCO and ICESCO, for the benefit of several education officials and staff. The training session falls within the framework of ICESCO’s program to improve water, sanitation and hygiene services in 1000 rural schools in its Member States, and as part of the activities of the celebration of Yaoundé as Culture Capital in the Islamic World for 2022.

During the first day of the hybrid session, which kicked off on Monday (February 20, 2023), Dr. Foued El-Ayni, Program Manager at the Science and Technology Sector of ICESCO, reviewed the objectives of the program, most notably the promotion of water services, safe drinking water, hygiene and sanitation, and raising awareness of best practices to preserve the health of students and teachers.

For his part, Mr. Abdelaziz Yauba, Secretary General of the Cameroonian National Commission for UNESCO and ICESCO, expressed his thanks to ICESCO and its interest in improving the educational conditions of students in rural areas through developing facilities, promoting healthy behaviors, and improving educational opportunities for girls.
