ICESCO’s workshop on modernizing teaching methods of Islamic education kicks off in Cameroon

Within the framework of the celebration of Yaounde as the African Region’s Culture Capital in the Islamic World for 2022, the workshop, being held by the Education Sector of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), on modernizing the teaching methods of Islamic education, kicked off on Tuesday (November 29, 2022), in Yaoundé, Republic of Cameroon, in cooperation with the Cameroonian National Commission for UNESCO and ICESCO. It benefits several educational counselors and inspectors.
The four-day workshop aims to train and provide counselors and teachers of Islamic education with the necessary skills, modernize the methods of teaching Islamic education, share the best integrated educational practices in using information technologies in preparing Islamic education lessons and consolidate the concept of moderation and middle stance in the educational curricula.
During the opening session, Dr. Youssef Abou Daka, Programmes Manager at ICESCO Education Sector, highlighted the importance of modernizing the methods of teaching Islamic education to contribute to the development of a culture of peace and achieve sustainable development.
For his part, Mr. Abdelaziz Yauba, Secretary-General of the Cameroonian National Commission for UNESCO, commended ICESCO’s efforts to support the Republic of Cameroon and contribute to strengthening the educational process. Ms. Stadjem Sodi, Director of Entertainment and Creative Industries at the Cameroonian Ministry of Arts and Culture, Chairperson of the National Committee for the Celebration of Yaoundé, Culture Capital in the Islamic World, stressed the importance of ICESCO’s roles to advancing Member States in its areas of action.
