    2 April 2022

The Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) participated in a communication meeting, held by the Economic, Social and Environmental Council (ESEC), in partnership with the Moroccan Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication to present the Council’s outcomes on the theme “For a New Vision to Manage and Valorize Cultural Heritage.”

Dr. Abdelilah Benarfa, Deputy Director-General, and Mr. Najib Riati, Cultural Advisor to the Director-General, General Coordinator of the Culture Capitals Program in the Islamic World, represented ICESCO in the meeting, which was held on Friday, April 1, 2022, at Chella archaeological site in Rabat.

The theme of the meeting goes hand in hand with ICESCO’s core interests not only with regard to safeguarding and rehabilitating cultural heritage, as part of social and economic development in the Member States, but also developing mechanisms for its management, as well as taking advantage of the opportunities offered by the celebration of Culture Capitals in the Islamic world, notably the celebration of Rabat as 2022 Culture Capital in the Islamic world, under the high patronage of His Majesty, King Mohammed VI, may Allah protect him.
