Delegation from Thai Fatoni University visits ISESCO headquarters in Rabat
An educational delegation from Fatoni University, based in the Kingdom of Thailand, today afternoon visited the headquarters of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO). The delegation was headed by Dr Ismail Lutfi Japakiya, the rector of the university and chairperson of the Religions for Peace Interreligious Council of Thailand, accompanied by Dr Yasser Matih, Professor at Fatoni University’s Faculty of Arts, Dr Abdelaziz Mounadil of the University of Ibn Tofail of Morocco in Kenitra, Visiting Professor at Indonesian, Turkish and Malaysian universities, and Dr Mohamed Smaili Alaoui, Professor of Higher Education at the Sultan Moulay Slimane University of Morocco in Beni Mellal.
Dr Amina Al-Hajri, ISESCO Deputy Director General, received the Thai delegation and was briefed by the head of the delegation about the university, its academic courses, and the educational and scientific services it provides for Muslims in Thailand and the Mekong River Basin countries, as well as the university’s contribution to disseminating moderate thought among Muslims in Thailand and promoting peace and coexistence among people of different religions and sects.
The delegation also held a meeting with Mr Adel Bouraoui, Director of the Directorate of Education, and another with Dr Abdelilah Benarafa, Supervisor of the FUIW General Secretariat, during which they discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in areas of common interest.
It is worth mentioning that Fatoni University, founded in 1995, became a member of the FUIW in 2001. The Kingdom of Thailand is also an ISESCO Observer State.
