    IDB joins KSAAEM Higher Committee

    The Islamic Development Bank (IDB), represented by its President, Dr Bandar bin Mohammed Hamza Al Hajjar, became member of the Higher Committee of the Award of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for Environmental Management in the Islamic World (KSAAEM), which is headed by the General Authority of Meteorology  and Environmental Protection in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and whose secretariat is supervised by the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO).

    The Award’s Higher Committee is composed of Dr Khalil bin Mosleh Al-Thaqafi, General President of the General Authority; Dr Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri, ISESCO Director General; Dr Mahathir bin Mohamad, Prime Minister of Malaysia, ISESCO Goodwill Ambassador; Dr Ata-ur-Rahman, President of the Network of Academies of Sciences of Islamic Countries (NASIC), ISESCO Goodwill Ambassador; Dr Sheikh Modibo Diarra, former Prime Minister of Mali, , UNESCO and ISESCO Goodwill Ambassador; and Prof. Ali Sayegh, Director General of the World Renewable Energy  Network (WREN), President of the  World Renewable Energy  Congress  (WREC).

    It is worth noting that the Award was set up to develop joint Islamic environmental action and contribute to the international efforts to achieve human environmental security. The Award is granted biennially on a set date determined at the announcement for calls of nominations.

    In view of the growing interest in the Award in its current 2018-2019 edition, and in a bid to give ample opportunities for candidates to present submissions, the deadline for submissions to the Award which was fixed at 31 December 2018, has been extended to end of February 2019.
