The Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), in collaboration with the Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Distinguished Academic Performance, launched the second edition of “Mishkat for Arabic Language Program for Educational Training and Continuous Professional Development” under the theme ” Youth Capacity-Building in Teaching Arabic to Non-Arabic Speakers.”

The second edition of the program, organized as part of the activities celebrating ICESCO Youth Year, was inaugurated with a training workshop on the reference frameworks for teaching Arabic to non-Arabic speakers. The workshop took place at the Mishkat Hall in ICESCO headquarters on Wednesday, 8 November 2023, and spanned two days. A total of 256 teachers of the Arabic Language to Non-Arabic Speakers from 21 countries, both within and outside the Islamic world, participated in the workshop either in-person and via video conferencing.

Under the guidance of Dr. Moulay Mohamed Ismaili Alaoui, education training expert, the workshop had a twofold objective. Firstly, it aimed to simplify the concepts associated with reference frameworks, shedding light on their significance in the realm of teaching Arabic to non-Arabic speakers. Secondly, it endeavored to enhance the participants’ proficiency in employing teaching strategies for all four language skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing), and applying them theoretically and practically at the beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels.
