Achieving gender equality by ending all forms of discrimination

International Workshop on Best Practices and Lessons Learned in Women’s Empowerment and Gender Equality

Objectives

Review ICESCO’s innovative and multi-sectoral programs to combat poverty, socio-economic marginalization and discrimination against women;

Promote the exchange of inspiring experiences among women and their skills to build the societies we want;

Highlight ICESCO’s efforts to integrate kye issues in educational systems, such as peace building, psychosocial support to vulnerable women, integration of sport as a primary tool contributing to the promotion of coexistence and the achievement of development;

Create synergy between partners in gender equality

High-level “Transforming Girls’ Education” Forum

Objectives

Supporting the success of the ‘Transforming Education Summit’ and enhancing cooperation between ICESCO, the United Nations (UNESCO) and its agencies with common interest;

Spurring all actors and stakeholders from the international community, the private sector and civil society into action to ensure the right to education for girls.

Outcomes

Sharing countries’ best practices, lessons, efforts and achievements in transforming girls’ education;

Discussing the strategies and commitments of the various stakeholders to transform girls’ education through concrete measures and objectives, and drawing up a time frame for their implementation;

Suggesting orientations for the national policy and measures for transforming girls’ education;

Forging partnerships among all actors and stakeholders from the international community, the private sector and civil society.

Symposium on Reimagining education for a better impact on learning outcomes in Sub-Saharan Africa

Objectives

Highlight recent research, innovations and good practices for improving student learning outcomes in sub-Saharan Africa;

Promote discussion among national policy makers, researchers and practitioners on evidence, research and strategies to improve student learning outcomes;

Promote the use of regional and national research by national policy actors in policymaking;

Strengthen the evidence base of research and knowledge centers;

Capitalize on available opportunities to improve student learning outcomes post-pandemic, building on lessons learned and challenges of the COVID-19 era in sub-Saharan Africa.

Outcomes

Research focused on sharing knowledge and innovation used by national and international education stakeholders to frame discussions on sustainable, inclusive, and equitable education expansion;

Knowledge and skills gained by country representatives, including those who see gender equality and social inclusion as strengthening national education systems;

Active participation of country representatives in the Center, successful contribution to its management and program, and exchange of knowledge, relevant to their context, with their respective centers and representatives of other countries in the region, including challenges related to gender equality and social inclusion.
