    Delegation of Spouses of Arab Ambassadors and International Organizations Officials in Morocco visits Exhibition of Prophet’s Seerah at ICESCO

    A delegation from the Society of Spouses of Arab Ambassadors and Officials at International Organizations in the Kingdom of Morocco, along with a host of Moroccan women friends of the Society, visited, Thursday, February 2, 2023, the Exhibition and Museum of the Prophet’s Seerah and Islamic Civilization, currently housed at the headquarters of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) in Rabat.

    Dr. Salim M. AlMalik, ICESCO Director-General, received the delegation, reaffirming that the Organization’s new vision and strategy accord great attention to building women’s capacities and supporting them in all fields, as they are the pillars of advanced and prosperous societies.

    He added that this initiative to host the Museum and Exhibition at ICESCO Headquarters is the fruit of a strategic partnership among the Organization, the Muslim World League (MWL) and Morocco’s Mohammadia League of Scholars, a partnership which aims to highlight the civilizational aspects of the Prophet’s Seerah and reflect the true, moderate image of Islam to the world.

    Moreover, Dr. AlMalik stated that the Exhibition has received wide numbers of visitors since its opening, including Moroccan citizens from different cities and age ranges, along with the country’s residents and guests, noting that the number of visitors has exceeded half a million since the Exhibition’s opening to the public on November 28, 2022.

    During the tour, the delegation received detailed presentations on the contents of the Exhibition’s different pavilions and sections, which feature modern display techniques and rely on AI and Augmented Reality technology to take the visitor to the time of the Prophet (pbuh).

    Following the tour, the delegation expressed their delight to visit this great civilizational edifice, which takes the visitor on a scientific and spiritual journey through its pavilions and sections, praising the encyclopedic information presented on the Seerah using modern technology.     ICESCO participates in the Forum Celebrating Arabic Language for the Islamic Peoples

    The Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) participated in the Forum Celebrating Arabic Language for Islamic Peoples, held by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), on Thursday (February 2, 2023), at the headquarters of the OIC General Secretariat, in cooperation with King Salman Global Academy for the Arabic Language, under the patronage of HRH Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan Al Saud, Minister of Culture of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

    The Forum began with the opening remarks of Mr. Dya-Eddine Said Bamakhrama, Ambassador of the Republic of Djibouti to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Djibouti’s permanent representative to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation; Dr. Saleh bin Hamad Al-Suhaibani, permanent representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation; Dr. Abdullah bin Saleh Al-Washmi, Secretary-General of King Salman Global Academy for the Arabic Language; and Mr. Hussein Ibrahim Taha, OIC Secretary-General.

    Dr. Majdi Haj Ibrahim, Head of ICESCO Center of Arabic for Non-Arabic Speakers, represented the Organization via videoconference, delivering an address on “ICESCO’s efforts to strengthen the international presence of the Arabic language,” where he reviewed the Organization’s key contributions to the advancement of Arabic in various fields and strengthening its presence at all local and international levels.

    He indicated that ICESCO’s new vision stresses the importance of the Arabic language, adopts modern technologies and mechanisms, and attracts human capital to disseminate the Arabic language all over the world.

    The forum shone a light on the abundant contributions of international organizations and institutions working in the field of the Arabic language to promote its position, enrich cultural and linguistic diversity, and enhance knowledge production in Arabic.

    ICESCO takes part in 9th session of Arab Forum for Scientific Research in Muscat

    The Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) took part in the 9th session of the Arab Forum for Scientific Research and Sustainable Development, held on January 30 -31, 2023 in Muscat. Themed “’Arab Female Researchers Act on Realizing Sustainable Development,” the forum was held in cooperation between the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) and the Omani National Commission for Education and Culture, under the auspices of Dr. Rahma bint Ibrahim Al Mahrooqi, Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation.

    The forum was aimed at casting light on the roles of Arab women researchers in achieving sustainable development and enhancing the contribution of institutions, universities and scientific research centers in development issues in the Arab region. The opening ceremony saw the participation of the high-caliber participation of Dr. Madeeha bint Ahmed al Shibaniyah, Minister of Education, Chairperson of the Omani National Commission for Education and Culture, and Ms. Amna bint Salim Al Balushi, Secretary-General of the Commission, along with 150 Arab women researchers in different scientific fields.

    ICESCO Director-General receives President of Moroccan Supreme Council for Education, Training and Scientific Research

    Dr. Salim M. AlMalik, Director-General of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), received Dr. Habib El Malki, President of the Moroccan Supreme Council for Education, Training and Scientific Research, where they discussed ways and means of strengthening cooperation between ICESCO and the Council in fields of common interest.

    During the meeting, held on Monday (31 January 2023), at ICESCO’s headquarters, in Rabat in the presence of Dr. Abdelilah Benarafa, ICESCO Deputy Director-General, Dr. AlMalik reviewed the main thrusts of the Organization’s vision and strategic orientations as well as its current programmes and projects on women and youth capacity-building and the promotion of innovation and scientific research, exploiting the new technologies in the development of education systems in the ICESCO Member States, training educational staff and strengthening the presence of Arabic worldwide.

    The meeting also discussed cooperation proposals aimed at establishing a partnership between ICESCO and the Council. In this connection, ICESCO Director-General reaffirmed the Organization’s willingness to cooperate with all parties to contribute to the modernization of education, science and culture in the Member States.

    ICESCO takes part in 17th PUIC Conference

    The Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) took part in the 17th Conference of the Parliamentary Union of Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), held at the International Convention Center in Algiers, under the theme, “Islamic World: Challenges of Modernization and Development.” The Conference concluded its proceedings on Monday, January 30, 2023.

    The session was marked by the adoption of Algiers Declaration and its Recommendations regarding conflict resolution among Islamic countries, and the approval of the requests to join the Union as Observers, submitted by the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, the International Parliamentary Congress, and the Association of Secretaries General of Arab Parliaments.


    The session was chaired by Dr. Brahim Boughali, President of the People’s s National Assembly, and saw the election of the Bureau Members, where Malaysia was selected as Vice-President for the Asian group and Côte d’Ivoire for the African one.

    ICESCO was represented in the session by Ms. Amira Al-Fadil, Head of the Sector of Partnerships and International Cooperation and Mr. Nassim Mohand, Expert at the Sector of Culture and Communication. The two experts held a series of meetings with the representatives of several African parliaments to explore prospects of promoting cooperation between ICESCO and these countries in the fields of education, science and culture.

    In his remark during the meeting, Dr. Raheel Qamar, Head of the Science and Technology Sector, highlighted the key role that the Consortium will assume to help pool local and international cooperation efforts to upgrade the working mechanisms of health sectors in the ICESCO Member States and develop the governing systems of this sector through practical programs and projects and scientific research works that identify needs and challenges and provide the best solutions to addressing and overcoming them.

    The ICESCO official also highlighted ICESCO’s efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic to help the Member States mitigate the negative impact of the pandemic by implementing a number of programs and projects to promote public and mental health.

    The meeting participants discussed the goals of ICESCO’s Health Consortium Initiative and methods and mechanisms to achieve its goals, through cooperation and coordination with the Member States’ National Commissions for Education, Science and Culture, and continuous follow-up to the implementation of programs and activities.

    ICESCO Educational Center in Chad organizes training session on designing development projects

    A training session on designing development projects and building partnerships kicked off today, Monday, January 30, 2023, in N’Djamena, Republic of Chad. The session is held by ICESCO Regional Educational Center, in cooperation with the International Office for Partnerships and Studies, under the auspices of the Chadian Ministry of Culture and Entrepreneurship.

    During the opening ceremony of this two-day event, Dr. Ali Mohammad Qamar, Director of ICESCO Regional Educational Center in Chad, stated that the session is part of the Organization’s efforts to support and keep up with Chad’s policies geared towards supporting and building capacities of young people, ensuring employment opportunities for them and encouraging them to follow entrepreneurial pursuits. The Director announced that the Center will organize other sessions for the center students in the Regions of N’Djamena and Abéché.

    For his part, Dr. Hussain Azzou, representative of the International Office for Partnership and Studies, expressed his thanks to ICESCO Center in Chad for the efforts it exerts to train young people, noting that the Office oversaw the training of more than 1,000 young men and women in the field of entrepreneurship and will work on funding the 20 projects that the session’s beneficiaries will presents.

    The training session benefitted 80 participants and aims to introduce them to the principles of designing, implementing and assessing development projects and building partnerships through entrepreneurship.

    ICESCO and Indonesia National Agency for Research and Innovation Explore Cooperation Prospects

    The Science and Technology Sector of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) held a meeting with the National Agency for Research and Innovation of the Republic of Indonesia, to explore the mechanisms of cooperation in the field of environmental protection, promotion of scientific research and knowledge sharing among Muslim countries.

    During the meeting, held on Friday, 27 January 2023, via videoconference, Dr. Raheel Qamar, Head of the Science and Technology Sector, reviewed ICESCO’s efforts to strengthen the capacities of its Member States in the fields of science, technology, space sciences, environmental protection and combating the impact of climate change through several initiatives and programs.

    For his part, Dr. Anang Setiawan Ahmadi, Director of the Center for Environmental Sciences and Ethnology at the National Agency for Research and Innovation, stressed the need to intensify international efforts to preserve forests, natural resources and biodiversity, and develop remote sensing and natural disaster risks reduction mechanisms.

    The meeting saw the participation of several experts from ICESCO’s Science and Technology Sector and the Partnerships and International Cooperation Sector, in addition to the representatives of the National Agency for Research and Innovation.

    ICESCO Participates in Inauguration of 2nd Rabat Model United Nations

    The Strategic Foresight Center of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) participated in the opening ceremony of the 2nd edition of the Model United Nations (UN) Program, which was held by the International Diplomats Organization in partnership with several academic institutions affiliated to Mohammed V University in Rabat, with the participation of 300 students to develop their skills in the fields of diplomacy and international relations, by simulating United Nations conferences and solving global issues through research, drafting decisions, persuasion and discussion.

    Dr. Kais Hammami, Director of the Center of Strategic Foresight, represented ICESCO and delivered an overview of strategic foresight and best practices in the field and the need to employ foresight in order to address future challenges and crises.

    The representative of ICESCO Strategic Foresight Center took the participants on a journey toward the future, by explaining the scenario-building process, as it is necessary for the field of diplomacy, strategy and international relations.

    The floor was open for the participating students to ask questions, as they showed great interest in strategic foresight and put forward many ideas.
