    ICESCO Director-General meets with SDAIA President in Riyadh

    Dr. Salim M. AlMalik, Director-General (DG) of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), met with H.E. Dr. Abdullah bin Sharaf Alghamdi, President of the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), in the presence of H.E. Dr. Esam Alwagait, Director of National Information Center at SDAIA. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the Global Artificial Intelligence (GAIN) Assembly, held by SDAIA, in cooperation with the United Nations Advisory Committee on Artificial Intelligence and ICESCO.

    During the meeting, held at SDAIA headquarters in Riyadh, on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, Dr. AlMalik highlighted the key axes of ICESCO’s new vision and strategic orientations, especially in the fields of modern technology and artificial intelligence. He stated that the Organization is working on developing a charter for artificial intelligence in the Islamic world, and holding several international conferences on capitalizing on AI applications, virtual reality and space sciences, to contribute to the development of education, science, culture and communication.

    The two parties also discussed the significance of holding the GAIN Assembly in Riyadh, and reviewed the axes of ICESCO’s Charter for Artificial Intelligence. They also agreed on ICESCO’s participation in the World Summit on Artificial Intelligence, to be held by SDAIA on September 10-12, under the patronage of H.R.H. Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Prime Minister and Chairman of SDAIA’s Board of Directors, may Allah protect him.
