Dr. Marwan Awartani Appointed Senior Advisor to ICESCO Director-General

Dr. Salim M. AlMalik, Director-General of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), announced the appointment of Dr. Marwan Awartani, former Minister of Education of the State of Palestine, as Senior Advisor to ICESCO Director-General, to help implement the Organization’s vision and strategic orientations, thanks to his extensive expertise and remarkable career in the field of education.
The announcement was made during the proceedings of the 44th Session of ICESCO Executive Council, hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by its National Commission for Education, Culture and Science on 16-18 of this month.
In addition to his academic work, Dr. Marwan Awartani served in leadership positions, before his tenure as a Minister of Education in Palestine. These include his work as the President of Palestine Technical University in Tulkarem, President of the Palestinian Academy for Science and Technology and Acting President of Al -Quds University.
Dr. Marwan Awartani obtained a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the American University of Beirut, a master’s of science in topology from Lehigh University, Pennsylvania, USA, and a Ph.D. in the same major and university.
