    Libyan Tribute to ICESCO Director-General in Recognition of his Efforts in Education, Science and Culture

    Dr. Salim M. AlMalik, Director-General of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), received an honorary shield and certificate of recognition, signed by Dr. Musa Muhammad Al-Maqrif, Libyan Minister of Education, President of the Libyan National Commission for Education, Science and Culture, in appreciation of his outstanding efforts in supporting educational, cultural and scientific efforts in the State of Libya.

    In connection, Dr. Al-Malik received at ICESCO headquarters in Rabat on Thursday, 16 November 2023, Mr. Abu Bakr Wanis, Chargé d’affaires of the Libyan Embassy to Morocco, in the presence of Dr. Said Al-Dabib, Libya’s Permanent Delegate to ICESCO and their accompanying delegation, reaffirming the consummate wish of ICESCO and the Libyan National Commission to continue the fruitful partnership between the Organization and Libyan competent authorities in the fields of education, science and culture.


    The Libyan delegation lauded the Organization’s further progress made towards the modernization and development of its organizational and administrative structure over the past four years, as well as its new vision, strategic orientations, action plans, initiatives and innovative programs, thus gaining and living up to the trust of its Member States, including the State of Libya, which lends its full support to ICESCO’s efforts.

    For his part, Dr. Al-Malik expressed his gratitude for the tribute, stressing that ICESCO’s achievements are the result of constructive cooperation and support from Member States to the Organization’s new vision and its activities worldwide and the commitment and devotion of ICESCO staff in its different sectors, directorates, and centers.

    The meeting saw the attendance of Dr. ‘Arfat Al Qahtar, Deputy Permanent Delegate, Mr. Mohamed Tayeb, Technical and Consular Adviser, and Al-Mukhtar Misbah, Advisor in Scientific and Academic Affairs. From ICESCO’s side, Ambassador Khaled Fatahalrahman, Director of ICESCO Center for Civilizational Dialogue, attended the meeting along with Dr. Ahmed Said Bah, Advisor to ICESCO’s Director General for Partnerships and International Cooperation and Supervisor of the General Secretariat of National Commissions and Conferences, and Mr. Samy Elkamhawy, head of the Information and Institutional Communication.
