    Dr. Salim Al-Malik, Director General of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), met with Mr. Ahmed Sayed Ahmed Agg, Minister of Culture, Youth, Sports and Relations with Parliament, and Chairman of the Mauritanian National Commission for Education, Culture and Science. Both parties reviewed the latest developments in the distinguished partnership between ICESCO and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania in the fields of education, science and culture, and preparations for the closing ceremony of Nouakchott, Capital of Culture in the Islamic World for 2023.

    During the meeting, which took place on Wednesday (8 November 2023) in Paris in conjunction with their participation in the General Conference of UNESCO, the two sides discussed the most prominent programs and activities that have been implemented as part of cooperation between ICESCO and the relevant Mauritanian authorities, and those scheduled for implementation soon in light of the program celebrating Nouakchott Capital of Culture in the Islamic world for 2023.

    ICESCO Director-General and the Mauritanian Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports affirmed their keenness to develop a distinguished partnership between the Organization and Mauritania, and to cooperate in implementing new programs likely to meet the needs and priorities of Mauritania in the fields of education, science and culture.
