    ICESCO Project Launched in Palestine to Help People with Disabilities Integrate into Society

    The Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), in cooperation with the Palestinian National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, launched the project “Our rights are equal… Our life is shared,” which aims to enhance the integration of people with disabilities into the Palestinian society, raise their aware of the rights guaranteed by local and international laws, and raise awareness of the principle of equality among society members through workshops that span six months.
    During the launch ceremony, held on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at the headquarters of the Palestinian General Union for People with Disability, Dr. Dawwas Dawwas, Secretary-General of the Palestinian National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, Chairman of ICESCO Executive Council, commended the Organization’s efforts, stressing the need to benefit from its support in taking care of children with disabilities and guaranteeing their rights.


    For his part, Mr. Magdy Marei, Secretary-General of the Palestinian General Union for People with Disability, commended ICESCO’s efforts and its roles in serving its Member States, stressing his keenness to cooperate with the Organization in areas of common interest.


    Dr. Hassan El-Hajjami, Expert at the Social and Human Sciences Sector, represented ICESCO at the ceremony, via videoconference, pointing out that the Organization places youth, women and children at the forefront of its priorities, including people with disabilities, and strives to develop their creative skills and build their entrepreneurial capacities through several pioneering projects and programmes.
