ICESCO holds software capacity-building workshop in Uganda

From July 27 to 29, 2023, the Science and Technology Sector of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) is holding a capacity-building workshop in the field of technology in Kampala, Republic of Uganda, in cooperation with the Uganda National Commission for UNESCO and ICESCO. The workshop aims to bridge the gap in the field of information and communication technologies, strengthen the skills of young people and promote the digital economy.
In his speech at the opening session of the workshop, via videoconference, Dr. Adel Smeda, expert in the Science and Technology Sector, highlighted the Organization’s efforts to provide young people in the Islamic world with knowledge enabling them to take advantage of the potential of digital technology and contribute to the socio-economic growth of their societies, through the development and implementation of initiatives, projects and training on the promotion of industries, technology and innovation.
For their part, participants, including university students and experts in the field of digitization, stressed the importance of this workshop in bridging the digital divide and building the capacity of young people in the digital economy, through hands-on training sessions, interactive workshops and collaborative projects.
In addition, participants will contribute to the development of digital applications and modeling software, while working to solve the resulting problems.
