ICESCO and Federation of Universities of Islamic World hold conference in Yaoundé on cultural policy and peacebuilding

The Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) and its affiliated Federation of the Universities of the Islamic World (FUIW) held an international conference on “Cultural Policy and Peacebuilding in Developing Countries” at the Institute of International Relations of the University of Yaoundé II in the Republic of Cameroon, within the framework of the celebration program of Yaoundé as the Culture Capital in the Islamic World and ICESCO Chair on Cultural Diversity, Peace and International Cooperation.
During the opening of the two-day conference, which concluded on Wednesday (June 14, 2023), Dr. Omar Halli, Advisor to ICESCO Director-General for the FUIW, highlighted ICESCO’s programs for university networking, with special support for the programs targeting youth and women as an essential pillar for spreading the culture of peace.
For her part, Dr. Nadine Mashiko Nakameni, Vice President in charge of Research and Cooperation, stressed that there is no specific concept of culture because it results from disagreement and it represents everything that man has invented to make recovery life better.
The conference, which witnessed the participation of a number of professors and representatives of bodies, ministries and Cameroonian Parliament, aimed to enhance countries’ capabilities to reduce conflicts and war situations and ensure recovery by contributing to peace-building and sustainable and comprehensive development in developing countries.
