ICESCO and UIR hold a training session as part of the program to integrate the “360° Peace Approach” in academic circles

The Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), in cooperation with the International University of Rabat (UIR), held a training session within the framework of ICESCO’s “360° Peace Approach” integration in academic circles, which aims at promoting curricula on peace and security in the Organization’s Member States through an approach based on an inclusive and multidisciplinary methodology.
At the beginning of the session, held on Friday 17 February 2023, Ms. Ramata Almamy Mbaye, Head of ICESCO’s Social and Human Sciences Sector, reviewed the Organization’s vision in the field of global development and underlined ICESCO’s commitment to promoting human capital and consolidating peace and security given their central role in any development process.
Dr. Mohamed Zine El Abidine, Head of Culture and Communication Sector at ICESCO, gave the introductory lecture, in which he discussed the importance of ICESCO’s “360° Peace Approach,” which highlights the promotion of culture and respect for cultural diversity in the establishment and preservation of peace worldwide.
For his part, Dr. Thierry Malbert, expert at ICESCO’s Center for Civilizational Dialogue, stressed the importance of the dialogue of civilizations in building peace. Mr. Marcel Maglo, from the African Development Bank, highlighted the concept of precariousness and the tools for building community resilience.
At the end of the training, Dr. Julien Durand de Sanctis, Director of the Master’s Degree in Conflict Resolution and Peace Governance at UIR, commended the partnership between ICESCO and the University.
It is worth noting that the implementation of ICESCO’s “360° Peace Approach” in academic circles is planned in several universities in the Organization’s Member States.
