    ICESCO Director-General meets with Qatari Minister of Education and Higher Education in Doha

    Dr. Salim M. AlMalik, Director-General (DG) of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), held a meeting with Mrs. Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi, Minister of Education and Higher Education of the State of Qatar, and together discussed developments in cooperation between ICESCO and Qatar and reviewed the programmes to be jointly implemented in the fields of education and higher education.

    During the meeting, which was held on Thursday, December 15, 2022, in Doha, Dr. AlMalik congratulated the Minister on Qatar’s successful hosting of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, underlining the need to capitalize on the benefits that the country has reaped from organizing the global tournament and harness them to advance education and culture.

    ICESCO DG reviewed the major projects currently implemented by the Organization, emphasizing youth-oriented programmes, most notably capacity-building workshops, and training programmes in technology and innovation entrepreneurship and leadership for peace and security, as well as scholarships.

    For her part, the Qatari minister provided an overview of Qatar’s strategic vision in the field of education and higher education and the progress achieved in the implementation plans, expressing the Ministry’s keenness to foster partnership and cooperation with ICESCO.

    The meeting touched upon means for leveraging the outcomes of the Transforming Education Summit, which was held by the United Nations at its headquarters in New York in September 2022, and saw the distinguished participation of the State of Qatar and ICESCO.
