ICESCO Participates in Regional Workshop on Professional Licensing for Teachers in Arab Countries

The Education Sector of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) participated in the regional workshop on: “The Reality of Professional Licensing for Teachers in the Arab Countries and Ways to Develop It,” held by the UNESCO Regional Center of Quality and Excellence in Education (RCQE) in Saudi Arabia, with the presence of ministers, officials, thinkers, experts, and specialists from several local, regional, and international establishments.
The workshop held on September 9, 2021, via videoconference, opened with a speech by Dr. Saïd AMZAZI, Minister of National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education and Scientific Research in Morocco, in which he stressed the need to shed light on the reality of professional development policies for teachers in the Arab world and ways to promote them in order to achieve quality in education and ensure sustainable human development.
Program Managers in the Education Sector, Dr. Youssef Abou Daka, and Dr. Ahmed Zanfali, and Dr. Sungbong Kim, an expert in the same sector represented ICESCO in the workshop.
The workshop included a dialogue session entitled “The Future of Standardizing Professional Education and Professional Licensing for Teachers in the Arab countries.” During this session, the participants explored the conclusions of the scientific study prepared under the supervision of the UNESCO RCQE, entitled “The Reality of Professional Licensing for Teachers in the Arab Countries and Ways to Develop it.” They also discussed the importance of preparing and developing the teacher to be qualified, efficient, and capable of global competition in the light of contemporary global trends and sustainable development, intending to suggest a vision for the establishment of an Arab body to grant teachers licensing to practice teaching, in accordance with an Arab regional framework and unified standards through taking advantage from advanced global experiences and practices.
