ISESCO Director General in Paris explores with OECD Deputy Secretary General ways to improve cooperation in common interest areas
The Director General of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), Dr.Salim Mohammed AlMalik, met today in Paris with the Deputy Secretary General of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), Mr.LudgerSchuknecht.
During the meeting, which took place at the OECD headquarters, the two parties discussed the development of cooperation on a host of issues of common interest, including quality assessment, investment promotion, andgender equal opportunitiesin educationat all its levels and types, as well as the facilitation of migrants’integration through specialized educational programs.
The two parties agreed on several field projects concerning the development of national policies in Member States and orienting them toward quality, competitiveness and good governance, as well as the preparation of strategic criteria for evaluation and measurement in education. The two parties will also publish reports, statistics, and inform decision and policy makers, and heads of academic institutions and research centers on educational issues in the Member States.
In order to put these matters into practice, a joint commission will be established to agree on a work programme for the coming years that will include setting up a teachers’ forum, organizing specialized training sessions and workshops at ISESCO’s headquarters, in addition to OECD’s scientific participation in ISESCO’s specialized ministerial conferences.
The two parties also reviewed cooperation on women’s empowerment and advancing their role in social development.
The two organizations will sign a memorandum of understanding and an executive action programme on the sidelines of the next session of the UNESCO General Conference.
For the record, the OECD was established in 1961 to promote policies that improve the economic and social well-being of peoples around the world and tackling the issues of economic, social, and environmental change.
