    ISESCO Director General participates in 5th World Forum on International Dialogue, Baku

    The Director General of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), Dr Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri, will take part in the 5th World Forum on International Dialogue, to be held in Baku on 2-3 May 2019 under the theme “Building dialogue into action against discrimination, inequality and violent conflicts” where he will give an address at the opening session of the Forum.

    The Forum is held under the high patronage of His Excellency President Ilham Aliyev of the Republic of Azerbaijan, in cooperation between UNESCO, the First Forum of the Alliance of Civilizations, World Tourism Organization, Council of Europe and ISESCO. The Forum will bring together a number of the heads of governments, ministers, directors of many international organizations, senior policy-makers, culture professionals, goodwill ambassadors, dialogue experts, journalists, intellectuals, and prominent activists.

    The Forum aims to promote intercultural dialogue, eliminate racial discrimination and violent conflicts. Its agenda features the discussion of many issues and topics on cultural diversity and dialogue, cultural pluralism, human rights, education toward achieving global citizenship and spreading the values of peace, combating Islamophobia and stereotypes, striving for interreligious coexistence, disseminating the values of tolerance and coexistence, involving young people, countering racial discrimination and inequality, migration, and economic security.

    During the Forum, ISESCO will hold a roundtable on the role of religious leaderships and academic institutions in the promotion dialogue and respect of cultural diversity through concrete initiatives.
