AlMalik, Director General of the\nIslamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), and Dr.\nMohamed Zine El Abidine, Tunisian Minister of Cultural Affairs, held a press\nconference to announce the programme of the 11<sup>th<\/sup> Islamic Conference\nof Culture Ministers and the closing ceremony of the Celebration of Tunis as\nthe Arab region\u2019s Capital of Islamic Culture for 2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.icesco.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/12\/Isesco_DG_Announcement_Conference_Culture_Ministers_2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9997\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the\nbeginning of the press conference, Dr. AlMalik welcomed the journalists and\nmedia professionals, thanked H.E. Dr. Zine El Abidine, and commended the\ncultural activities held as part the celebration of Tunis as Capital of Islamic\nCulture for 2019. He also expressed his delight for the cultural activities\nwhich were not exclusive to Tunis, but also covered most regions of the\nRepublic of Tunisia, while reaffirming that Tunis has given an exemplary model\nwhich is hard to compete by the following capitals of Islamic culture. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.icesco.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/12\/Isesco_DG_Annoucement_Conference_Culture_Ministers_3.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9998\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On his\npart, Dr. Zine El Abidine thanked ISESCO Director General and commended the\ncooperation between the Ministry and the Organization, particularly in renewing\ncultural action. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The\nMinister also reviewed the most important cultural activities which have been\nheld by the Ministry throughout the year all over Tunisia, standing at 174\nthousand activities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Besides,\nDr. Zine El Abidine stressed that the strong cooperation between the Ministry\nand ISESCO will continue so as to optimally benefit from it throughout the year\n2019, while expressing the pride of his country in taking over the presidency\nof the Islamic Conference of Culture Ministers for the two coming years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The\nMinister reiterated his welcome to Dr. AlMalik, the Culture Ministers of Muslim\ncountries and the participating delegations in the 11<sup>th<\/sup> Islamic\nConference of Culture Ministers while wishing every success to this Conference,\nhosted tomorrow by Tunisia. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Afterwards,\nthe floor was given over to questions and discussions. Replying to a question\non the potentials of digital technology in the field of culture, Dr. AlMalik\nsaid \u201cthe opportunities and challenges are immense in this context. Unless the\nMuslim countries benefit from such potentials, they would lag behind; which\nconstitutes a serious and irreparable loss.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.icesco.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/12\/Isesco_DG_Announcment_Conference_Ministers_Culture_4.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9999\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr. AlMalik\nadded that ISESCO has been aware of this issue and sought to benefit Member\nStates from the immense potentials of digital technology, including the project\non \u2018Digital culture: opportunities and challenges\u2019, which is submitted to the Islamic\nConference of Culture Ministers among other items for consideration. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Responding\nto a question on the continuity and future of cooperation between the Tunisian\nMinistry of Cultural Affairs and ISESCO, Dr. Zine El Abidine replied: \u201cthis\ncooperation is strong and ongoing. It will continue and prosper between the two\nparties, especially after the concrete efforts to restore the vitality of the\nOrganization with the appointment of Dr. AlMalik as Director General without\noverlooking the efforts of the former director general, Dr. Abdulaziz\nAltwaijri.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.icesco.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/12\/Isesco_DG_Announcement_Conference_Ministers_Culture_5.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10000\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr. Zine\nEl Abidine also stated that \u201cwe believe that citizens are the main and most\nimportant target of every cultural activity. Throughout the last three year, we\nhave sought to help citizen appreciate arts, culture and cultural creativity\nbefore its practice, and our efforts are still ongoing. \u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The\nMinister added that \u201cwe are glad of our achievements within this framework. We\nare looking forward to entrenching cultural diversity. In this regard, we have\nestablished Tunis&nbsp;International&nbsp;Center for Digital Cultural Economy\nand agreed with ISESCO Director General to share this vision, which will be\nconsidered tomorrow at the 11<sup>th<\/sup> Islamic Conference of Culture\nMinisters.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today at the City of Culture in Tunis, Dr. Salim M.
